2024 Baseball & Softball Umpire Cadet Class Registration
Cranford, NJ November 15, 2023:
Are you tired of sitting on the sideline and yelling “Hey Ump” or “Hey Blue”? Want to
know the real rules of the game? Well, now is your chance to be that umpire. We are
accepting applications for the 2024 cadet class. We will be offering two locations. The umpire
class will be held in Roxbury on Tuesday Nights and Cranford on Thursday Nights starting in
January 2024.
You will be instructed on the (NFHS) High School Federation Baseball/Softball rules with
on-field mechanics training. At the conclusion of the class we will be offering the NJ State
Certification test to become a Certified Baseball and/or Softball Carded umpire. Once certified
you will be offered games to work in your area.
Additionally those who pass the required state exam, and register both with the NJSIAA
and a state-recognized umpire chapter, will receive $300 from the NJSIAA. This will help offset
your cost for taking this class, registration, and the purchase of equipment.
Graduates will be qualified to work high school, travel and recreational baseball and
softball games anywhere in New Jersey.
