About Us
The Raritan Valley Umpires Association (RVUA) was founded in 2004, succeeding the Hunterdon County Umpire Association. Today, RVUA serves multiple counties as a Super Regional Chapter, officiating baseball and softball across numerous conferences in New Jersey.
Our mission is to educate and continuously train officials in the rules and mechanics of high school Baseball and Softball sports, providing them with opportunities to advance and officiate in other leagues.

Starting umpiring high school baseball and softball in 2013 and college baseball in 2015. Now serving as president of the RVUA and part of the training team to educate and develop new members and those that want to improve their skills and knowledge of the rules.

Joe Marateo
Cadet Instructor
Joseph Marateo is a highly qualified sports official and instructor. He currently serves as the RVUA Baseball Interpreter and Cadet Instructor for High School Baseball and Softball. As a certified NFHS Baseball and Softball Official and NFHS Soccer Official, his credentials span multiple sports disciplines. He is also a graduation from the Jim Evans Professional Umpire School further underscores his extensive expertise in umpiring and officiating.
